Kit Ford

In Memoriam

Kit Ford

March 23, 1953 – July 10, 2021

We are broken-hearted over the loss of our dear Kit. She passed this summer due to complications of cancer.

Kit started studying yoga around 2001 and after completing her first Iyengar teaching assessment taught at IYIP for nearly 10 years.
Her students were treated to an energetic class with creative prop set-ups to explore poses in infinite ways. Kit’s delightful, friendly style, her sassy sense of humor and inspirational readings made her a favorite teacher for many of our students.
Kit was reared in the Forest Hills area of Pittsburgh. She has degrees in graphic design and art from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Chatham College. She subsequently worked as a graphic designer and co-owned a kitchy furniture and decor shop in Wilkinsburg. For over 20 years she provided loving care for Mr. Christopher, a young man with disabilities. They shared an otherworldly bond and learned much from one another.
Kit was a woman of many interests and talents. She took dance lessons, studied yoga, read tarot cards (quite exceptionally!), studied esoteric metaphysical texts, was a student of The Course in Miracles, and continued to create her artwork and to re-design her lovely apartment. She also designed and executed specialty painted wall treatments for clients in their homes.
Kit was a dear friend to many. She is sorely missed.
