About Jessica

As a child, Jessica loved lounging on the floor in karnapidasana although at the time she didn’t know anything about what she was doing, it just felt nice curling up with her knees by her ears. She was athletic participating in basketball and track in school but didn’t ‘do’ yoga until college. In graduate school, Jessica would meet up with a friend each week and guide them through sequences of yoga poses. In 2013, this friend learned about a class at Yoga on Centre (now IYIP) and they gave it a try. It was transformative. Christina’s teaching was methodical and precise and Jessica never looked back.

From late 2017 to early 2020, Jessica assisted Sara Azarius in the Yoga Therapy course, working 1:1 with students focusing on specific ailments. Jessica is currently training under Christina towards an Iyengar certification. She learned much from Abhijata Iyengar at the 2016 and 2023 (virtual) National Iyengar Yoga Conventions. As an accessibility advocate, she appreciates that Iyengar yoga is an accessible style of practice that offers benefits for every person regardless of their current ability. Otherwise, Jessica works at Carnegie Mellon University as a librarian helping people find information, use data, and make maps, goes hiking, putters around in her garden, and makes liquor infusions.
